Anthony Joshua retained his heavyweight titles following his ninth-round triumph over Kubrat Pulev at the O2 Arena this month.

The 31-year-old who currently holds the WBA, IBF, WBO, and IBO belts was said to have achieved the victory with the help of some veterans who dished instruction to the Briton in the rings.

Legendary Floyd Mayweather was among the celebrities cheering AJ to triumph in the stands after travelling all the way to London to watch the match.

After the match, Joshua celebrated his glory at the ringside with the undefeated retired American icon as they exchange a few ideas.

The Briton was spotted in a short clip leaning towards Mayweather for some words of wisdom as he told the camera some of the content of their conversation, saying:

"He says it's chess, not chequers."

Joshua went further to analyse his victory over his Bulgarian challenger on his official YouTube channel after the match. He said:

"I’m staying true to myself, learning every day, I get older, I get wiser, I learn that this boxing game is chess and not checkers. I play a smart game and I make the right moves at the right time."

Meanwhile, Joshua's promote Eddie Hearn reveals the 31-year-old and the American spent about 60 minutes chatting backstage as reported by SunSport. Hearn told iFL TV:

“They were in there for about an hour talking tactics. It was great that he was here. I’m just chuffed, great performance, proud of AJ, a lot of pressure on him as always but onwards and upwards.”

Mayweather was heard shouting instructions to Joshua, but it was his sparkling jewellery which caught AJ's eye the most.

Legit.ng earlier reported that Premier League star, Declan Rice and Floyd Mayweather joined Anthony Joshua to celebrate the boxer's triumph over Kubrat Pulev at the O2 Arena this month.

The 31-year-old handed the 39-year-old Bulgarian his second-ever professional defeat after knocking him out in the ninth round of their bout.

Both Rice and Mayweather watched how the British boxer of Nigerian descent demolished his opponent before joining him backstage to take pictures with the champ.
