Sokoto state government set to construct 12 police stations

- More police stations will soon be constructed in Sokoto according to the state government

Sokoto state government says it has concluded plans to construct 12 police stations at a cost of N37 million each.

Alhaji Sani Ahmad, director planning, ministry of local government, made the disclosure while briefing the state’s House of Assembly Committee members on local government and community development on Friday, December 11, at Dange/Shuni local government area of the state.

The committee, led by its chairman, Alhaji Habibu Modachi (PDP-Isa), was at the site of the police station construction in Dange, as part of its oversight of projects executed by the ministry.

According to Ahmad, most of the contractors have made appreciable progress in the execution of the contracts

“This project is part of the state government’s contribution to secure the lives and property of residents and it is expected to be completed in the next two to three months.
“The government has approved N37 million for the construction of each of the 12 police stations.
“Moreover, each of the stations will be completely furnished before handing over to the police,’’ he said.

The director added that the state government also approved the renovation of 18 police stations across the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that a northern group, Unity in Diversity Forum on Monday, December 7 challenged indigenes of northern Nigeria to assist the authorities in finding solutions to the mounting insecurity in the region.

The group's advice was contained in a communique it issued and seen by Legit.ng after a round table discussion themed: Survive or Surrender: The Northern Nexus in Abuja.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll recently condemned the incessant abductions and killings by bandits in northern Nigeria.

Alhaji Abubakar, who is the leader of Nigerian Muslims, on Thursday, November 26 said lamented that the bandits are so daring that they now go into houses to kidnap people.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Coalition of Nigeria (DCN) on Monday, November 30, alleged that some members of the opposition have continually initiated moves to undermine the sovereignty of Nigeria through the sponsorship of violence across the country.
