Alleged corruption: Court finds ex-minister Aminu Wali not guilty

A former minister of foreign affairs, Aminu Wali, has been acquitted of alleged corruption by a Federal High Court in Kano.
Wali was facing charges of corruption from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

He was accused of allegedly receiving N950 campaign funds from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the 2015 presidential election, according to Premium Times.
The anti-graft agency argued that the accused contravened Section 1 of the Money Laundering Provision Act 2011 when he allegedly received the campaign funds from the party.
But the court on Friday, December 11, dismissed the charges against the former minister.
The judge, Lewis Allagoa ruled that the anti-graft agency failed to prove its case beyond a reasonable doubt.
According to Daily Trust, the EFCC through its counsel, Cosmos Ogwu, said it will study the judgment before deciding the next step to take.
In another report, Abdulfatah Ahmed, the immediate past governor of Kwara state, has been invited by the EFCC for interrogation.
The former governor in a tweet on Tuesday, December 8, said he honoured the invitation of the zonal office of EFCC in Ilorin, the capital of Kwara state.
The former governor noted that the invitation was to clarify specific transactions and decisions taken while steering the ship of the state.
Meanwhile, a former minister of justice, Mohammed Adoke, has been permitted by a Federal High Court in Abuja to travel to the United Arab Emirate (UAE) for treatment.
Adoke is currently facing a money laundering charge involving him and a businessman, Aliyu Abubakar, The Guardian reported.
The EFCC which charged the former minister to court through its lawyer, Bala Sanga had objected to the application by Adoke’s counsel, Kanu Agabi.
