It is no longer news that President Muhammadu Buhari failed to honour the invitation of members of the National Assembly over the current insecurity in most areas of the country.
As a result of this, many Nigerians have taken to social media to speak their minds on the development.
In this report, Legit.ng compiles some of the reactions for the benefit of our esteemed readers.
A social media user, @chosensomto claimed those who are expecting the president to visit the National Assembly are delusional.
He said the president that can boycott a presidential debate will not care to appear before the lawmakers.
"People who applauded Buhari when he boycotted presidential debate in 2019 for an election he so needed to win, expected him to appear before National Assembly over insecurity? Buhari has been consistent, it’s his supporters that are delusional."
On her part, another social media user, @Real_AmakaIke accused the president of insensitivity to the yearnings of Nigerians. He said the president refused to do what the country wanted.
@MBuhari will never. Visit terror victims, no way. Sack service chiefs, for where. Okay, go to national Assembly and explain about things, no way.
Dayo Williams, a social commentator on his part said the president should have honoured the invitation because if he has something to offer.
"A man who has something to offer won't be afraid of any summon or invite. He's not appearing before the House Committee on Intelligence where supposedly classified Information will be shared.
"His appearance is to give an overview(a brief summary) of what his government is doing to tackle the worsening insecurity in the country. He has a right to dodge if he is asked a classified Information, that's even if he knows.
"It's sad and appalling to make up untenable excuses for a man's seeming failure. Not just a man; a man leading a multitude of Nigerians. A man who lives at the expense of all Nigerians. An employee who has all it takes to deliver but is abysmal in terms of productivity and output has no any other name. Do not reinforce failure."
Recall that Legit.ng reported that Buhari refused to address members of the National Assembly and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has gave reasons for this.
According to the opposition party, Buhari has nothing to tell Nigerians.
PDP national publicity secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, made this allegation known on Thursday, December 10.
