Cristiano Ronaldo has thrown his weight of support for eternal rival Lionel Messi after the Portuguese striker inspired Juventus to a 3-0 win over Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Both players reunited on the pitch yet again after two years and seven months, but it was the former Real Madrid man that stole the show on the Champions League night.

Ronaldo scored two goals from the spot and then McKennie also got on the score sheet to ensure the Old Lady return to Turin with all three points as they won the group above the Catalans with better goals difference; as both finish with 15 points respectively.

With the brace, CR7 has now scored a staggering 14 goals at the Camp Nou in his last 13 games and after the game he paid tribute to his major rival. He told Movistar via ESPN.

"Messi is the same as ever [on the pitch]. Barcelona are in a difficult moment, but they are still Barca. I am sure they will come out of it. All teams have bad runs, but Barcelona are a very good team.
"I have always had a cordial relationship with Messi.
"As I have said before, for 12, 13, 14 years, I have been sharing prizes with him. I never saw him as a rival. He always tried the best for his team, and I tried the best for mine. I always got on well with him. I am sure he will say the same if you ask him.
"But we know in football, people always look for a rivalry to create more excitement."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Paulo Dybala was involved in an off-the-pitch incident with Barcelona boss Ronald Koeman while Juventus were leading by 2-0.

Clement Lenglet handled the ball inside the penalty area as Juve stars on the bench including Dybala wanted the French defender to be sent off by the referee.

And Koeman did not react kindly as a video clip showed the Dutch manager approaching Juventus subs benched reacting angrily.

The former Everton and Southampton boss was then stopped by some of Juventus coaching staff as Dybala and his teammates were seen laughing at him.
