NDLEA arrests drug trafficker a month to his wedding in Nigeria

- Adendu Kingsley might not be having his dream wedding after all after he was caught by the NDLEA

- The intending groom to be husband was caught with banned substances by personnel of the agency

- However, the suspect has refused to blame anybody for his predicament, insisting that he was aware of the risk when he embarked on the journey

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Nnamdi Azikiwe international airport Special Area Command, Abuja, has caught a man who is in the country in preparation for his wedding, PR News reports.

The soon to be husband, identified as Elechi Adendu Kingsley, was caught with banned substances by personnel of the agency.

Kingsley, an indigene of Umulolo local government area of Imo state says he has been living in Brazil for the past 13 years, PR Nigeria reports.

Going further, he said he came to prepare for his wedding which comes up in January 2021.

Speaking of his predicament, he said he was promised the sum N3 million if he successfully delivers the package to somebody in Nigeria.

Kingsley, however, refused to blame anybody for the trouble he found himself in.

He said:

“I am an adult and I am fully aware of what I was going into. I agree that somebody gave it to me but I offered to carry it.”

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) on Sunday, November 29, disclosed that it has arrested a drunk officer caught in a now-viral video at CBN junction in Abuja.

Yusuf Mariam, the police public relations officer of the FCT police command, made this known in a statement on Twitter, saying the officer was identified, arrested and taken into custody.

ASP Mariam said the police officer has been subjected to "psychological and medical evaluation" in line with the directives of the FCT police commissioner, Bala Ciroma.

In a related development, police said it arrested two officers who were caught in a video assaulting a woman at the Odo Ori Market, Iwo Osun state over alleged breach of lockdown directive.

The force, in a statement, described the behaviour of the officers as "unwarranted, unnecessary and unjustifiable."

The police inspector general, Mohammad Adamu, was said to have been angered by the viral video and immediately directed the CP Johnson Kokumo, the commissioner of police in charge of Osun state command where the incident occurred, to get the officers arrested.
