Most violent acts against northerners perpetrated by Igbo, says Northern Elders Forum

- The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has made a damning allegation against south-easterners

The Northern Elders Forum has alleged that most violent acts against northerners are perpetrated by Igbo.

Vanguard reports that the chairman of NEF, Professor Ango Abdullahi, made the allegation on Tuesday, December 8 in Port Harcourt, Rivers state.

According to the report, NEF leaders are embarking on a tour of northern communities across other parts of the country following the #EndSARS protests.

“It is now becoming clear that most of the violence that are being meted out to the northerners in various parts of the south came from people from the south-eastern states.”

In a related development, the national leadership of the Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF) has warned that it has alerted its members across the northern states of Nigeria and Abuja, to be ready to confront any group of people organising a second wave of the #EndSARS protests across the country.

The group said the protest has long outlived its usefulness and it would not sit back and allow rogue elements to plunge Nigerians into another hardship in view of the already ailing economy.

The national chairman of the forum, Comrade Elliot Afiyo said the first phase of the protest was hijacked midway by hoodlums which caused serious damage to the economy of the country, adding that the NYLF won't allow another round of protests in the 19 northern states.

Meanwhile, the Democratic Coalition of Nigeria (DCN) on Monday, November 30, alleged that some members of the opposition have continually initiated moves to undermine the sovereignty of Nigeria through the sponsorship of violence across the country.

The group, in a statement seen by Legit.ng said that the wave of violence across the country is the handiwork of those that are hell-bent on truncating democracy in Nigeria.
