The national leadership of the Northern Youth Leaders Forum (NYLF) has warned against staging the second wave of the #EndSARS protests anywhere in northern Nigeria.

The group said the protest has long outlived its usefulness and it would not sit back and allow rogue elements to plunge Nigerians into another hardship in view of the already ailing economy.

Daily Sun quoted the national chairman of the forum, Comrade Elliot Afiyo as saying the first phase of the protest was hijacked midway by hoodlums which caused serious damage to the economy of the country.

His words:

“We want to sound a serious warning to the organizers and all their sponsors to discontinue their plans and embrace dialogue or face whatever consequences as a result of the protests.
“All our zonal and state chapters are fully mobilized and prepared for a violent confrontation with the protesters in any part of the North and Abuja.”

Recall that Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state recently advised Nigerian youths to shelve the idea of another round of #EndSARS protests.

Speaking at a press conference witnessed by a Legit.ng reporter in Abuja on Sunday, December 6, Governor Bello said he is unsettled by credible intelligence reports indicating that another round of the #EndSARS protests is brewing in select cities across the country.

Meanwhile, a recent media report indicates that the federal government would treat any fresh demonstration against perceived police brutality or any other issue, as high treason aimed at unconstitutional regime change.
