Bola Tinubu condemns killing of Nasarawa APC chairman

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu has condemned the killing of Philip Shekwo, the chairman of the party in Nasarawa state.

Tinubu in a statement through Twitter on Tuesday, December 8, expressed hope that killers of the politician will be made to face the wrath of the law.

The APC leader described the killing as a callous, wicked, and dastardly act. He said the Nasarawa state chairman did not deserve to be killed in such a gruesome manner.

Tinubu sent his condolences to the family of the late politician and APC members in the state. He also prayed for the Almighty Allah (God) to comfort Shekwo’s wife and children.

Meanwhile, Vanguard has reported that the suspected kidnapper and killer of the Nasarawa state chairman of the APC has been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force.

Governor Abdullahi Sule disclosed this Tuesday, December 1, in Lafia, the Nasarawa state capital.

According to the governor, the killer, Mohammed Usman was arrested at Asakio, Lafia East local government by the police.

The governor further revealed that Usman has since confessed to the crime after he was apprehended.

In another report, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti state has said that some fleeing Boko Haram insurgents have relocated to the southwest where they are now operating as kidnappers.

Fayemi, while speaking on a Channels TV programme on Sunday, December 6, said the insurgents are also operating as bandits in the northwest.

The governor, who is the chairman of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), noted that the Boko Haram insurgency which returned to the front burner following the killing of over 40 farmers in Borno, is not limited to the state.
