Channels reporter and wife make peace as Governor Ortom intervenes

Benue state governor, Samuel Ortom has reconciled the Channel's TV reporter, Pius Angbo with his wife, Mrs. Ifeyinwa Angbo.
Governor Ortom who met with the couple at Government House, Makurdi on Monday, December 7 counselled them to always settle their differences amicably and shun the temptation of engaging in violence.
A statement sent to Legit.ng on Monday, December 7 by the spokesman of the governor, Terver Akase, quoted the Benue state chief executive as saying, as a young couple with great potentials, the husband being a versatile journalist and the wife a medical doctor, there was the need for them to foster a strong union to serve as models to others.

Mr. Pius Angbo in a reaction said he had apologised to his wife over the assault on her, stressing that he also sought the forgiveness of the entire womenfolk and would make amends going forward.
On her part, Dr. Angbo said she had accepted her husband's apology and forgiven him, saying their children are still tender and they needed prayers to grow stronger in love and nurture their kids to maturity.
She appreciated Governor Ortom for taking time out of his very tight schedule to make peace between them, saying the Benue governor’s intervention was fatherly and a demonstration of love for them.
Pius is the Benue correspondent for the private TV station while his wife is a practicing medical doctor in the state.
The reporter had shared videos of her battered face over the weekend, accusing her husband of physically assaulting her.'
The video went viral and became a trending topic on social media with some Nigerians commenting on the issue.

Nigerian singer, Simi, had earlier tweeted on the incident, saying the victim was possibly risking her safety by calling out her husband on the issue of domestic abuse.
Simi also made mention the bothersome issue of women who suffer from physical abuse feeling unsafe in their homes.
Meanwhile, a delegation of female students of secondary schools, across the three senatorial districts of Enugu state, has commended Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi for his administration’s outstanding commitment in promoting the wellbeing of the state's children, most especially the girl child.
The students made the commendation when the governor wife’s pet project, Ugo’s Touch of Life Foundation (U-TOLF) led them to pay an advocacy visit to Gov Ugwuanyi, at the Government House, Enugu, in commemoration of this year’s International Day of the Girl Child recently.
