Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo state has revealed how he missed the opportunity of a last moment with his late mother, Mrs. Abigail Makinde before her untimely death, The Nation reports.
Makinde recounted that he had promised to see his mother the weekend after the Ondo state governorship election, but unfortunately, he didn't get the chance to do that.
The governor revealed that he was unable to take his mum's calls out of fear he might not be able to grant her wish of stopping by to see her before the agreed time.
He made the disclosure on Thursday, December 3, while speaking at the service of songs held at The Archade of the Oyo state Government House, Agodi, Ibadan, as part of the funeral rites of his late mother.
The governor went on to note that he was shocked to receive the news of the death of his mother the following morning.
According to him, his mother's passing was still a very bitter pill to swallow for him.
Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the governor of Oyo lost his mother to the cold hands of death. She died on Thursday, October 15 at the age of 81 years, with her demise said to have plunged the entire Makinde's household into mourning.
It would be recalled that on July 11, 2019, Governor Makinde celebrated his mum when she became an octogenarian.

In a related development, Kogi state governor, Yahaya Bello, on Sunday, March 15, announced the death of his mother, Hauwau Bello.
The statement signed by the governor stated that his mother died at the age of 101.
The statement noted that Hauwau Bello died after a brief illness and buried the same day at her residence in Nagazi, Okene Local government area of Kogi state in accordance with Islamic rites.
