Bandits kill 7 farmers, abduct 30 villagers in Katsina state

- Days after the killing of 43 farmers in Borno state, 7 others have been reportedly killed in Katsina state

- This time, the victims were killed by bandits who have held the northwest state under siege for months

- Apart from those killed, dozens of villagers were also abducted by the armed gunmen

Daily Sun is reporting that suspected bandits last weekend slaughtered seven farmers, including a nursing mother, across three communities of Tashar Bama, Dogun Muazu and Unguwar Maigayya villages of Sabuwa local government area of Katsina state.

A member of the state House of Assembly representing the area, Hon. Ibrahim Danjuma Machika, confirmed the killing on the floor of the House on Monday, November 30.

Apart from the number killed, he said that the bandits abducted a total of 30 other villagers from the affected communities.

Legit.ng had earlier reported that 44 rice farmers were killed by men suspected to be Boko Haram terrorists in Borno state.

The farmers met their untimely death while harvesting their crops in Zabarmari, a Borno community known for rice farming.

In a related development, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, has condemned the incessant abductions and killings by bandits in northern Nigeria.

Alhaji Abubakar, who is the leader of Nigerian Muslims by virtue of his position as the president-general of the Jamaatu Nasril Islam, made the comment on Thursday, November 26 at the 4th quarter 2020 meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council in Abuja.
