Brazilian football legend Pele has joined the whole footballing world to mourn the death of Argentine great Diego Maradona who died on Wednesday, November 25.

The demise of Diego Maradona came as a huge shock for the whole world football fraternities considering how he recently went through a brain operation.

Diego Maradona was discharged from the hospital after the successful operation and fans were hoping for him to recover fully which he failed to do.

According to the report on CNN, Pele explained that the death of Diego Maradona came as a painful one for him to bear considering their relationship.

These two former footballers are considered as two of the greatest soccer icons in the world considering their performances.

"I have lost a great friend and the world lost a legend.
"There is still much to be said, but for now, may God give strength to his family members. One day, I hope, we will play football together in heaven."

Pele during his active playing days played 92 games for the Brazilian national team scoring 77 goals.

The 80-year-old won the World Cup three times in 1958, 1962 and 1970 before he retired from football.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how hundreds of people gathered at the Argentinian presidential mansion to see the coffin of football legend Diego Maradona who died on Wednesday, November 25, after heart attack.

The whole world are still mourning the demise of Diego Maradona just because of his superb and incredible performances on the pitch during his lifetime.

Maradona's coffin was brought out of an ambulance and brought into the palace where it will lie in state in a three-day spectacle of national mourning in Argentina.

The former Barcelona and Napoli star helped his country to win the World Cup in 1986 when he scored a controversial goal which condemned England to a defeat in the final.

According to the report, fans also gathered outside the Buenos Aires stadium which is where Diego Maradona actually started his football career.

The report added that Maradona's nephew Johnny Esposito was the last person to see him alive, before doctors with an appointment went to his estate and found him dead.
