Michael Flynn has finally off the hook as he has been granted a presidential pardon by President Donald Trump, meaning he will now have "a truly fantastic thanksgiving."

The announcement of the pardon to the US former national security adviser was made on Wednesday, November 25, by President Trump in a tweet.

The long-awaited mercy is coming months after Flynn was fired following his admittance and guilty plea to lying to the FBI about contacts with a Russian official, The Guardian reports.

A former trusted Trump surrogate on his campaign trail in 2016, Flynn, a retired general, has not been convicted but his pardon has courted a widespread criticism.

Top politicians have been reacting to the development, with a number of them coming down hard on the president. Some are of the opinion that Trump has abused the pardon power repeatedly to "reward friends and protect those who covered up for him."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that President Trump's increasingly delusional claims of victory were given a soft pat after an appeal court judge in Pennsylvania issued a directive to stop certifying election results.

The order was given on Wednesday, November 25, barely a day after Governor Tom Wolf of Pennsylvania said the department of state had certified former vice president Joe Biden as the winner of the state's presidential poll.

Biden had won the presidential election in the state, cruising to an incredible 50% vote (meaning he won Pennsylvania's 20 electoral votes) to put Trump on the second position of the log with 48.8%.
