Former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas has urged world football governing body to retire the number 10 jersey for all teams so as to honour football legend, Diego Maradona.

The whole world football fraternities were thrown into deep mourning on Wednesday evening, November 25, when the announcement of the death of Diego Maradona came.

Diego Maradona was said to have suffered a heart attack before the World Cup winner passed on in his house.

Since the announcement of Diego Maradona's death came, tributes have been pouring across the world considering his contributions to the game of football when he was alive.

During his active playing days for clubs and country, Diego Maradona was known with the famous number 10 jersey and he excelled with it.

According to the report on GOAL, Villas-Boas who is currently in charge of Marseille wants FIFA to stop all the teams in the world from using the number 10 shirt.

“And Maradona yes it is tough news, I would like FIFA to retire the No.10 shirt in all competitions, for all teams.''

Diego Maradona would ever be remembered for the controversial goal he scored at the 1986 World Cup final against England which helped Argentina to win the crown.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Diego Maradona's death threw the entire football world into mourning as the legend was reported dead on Wednesday, November 25.

The 1986 FIFA World Cup winner recently left the hospital after undergoing surgery to remove a blood clot from his brain.

He, however, passed away about 13 days after he was discharged from the hospital when his operation was successful.

His death has not only left his family bereaved, some other people who had a personal relationship with him are also shaken by his death.
