Lionel Messi has been desperate in leaving Barcelona since last summer but latest reports from the club have it that the Argentine will not be able to leave in January.

It is a huge sigh of relief for Barcelona fans who have been in doubt of the player’s future as they confirm that the six-time Ballon d’Or winner will remain at the club.

However, with Messi already in the final season of his contract, it means that the month of January presents the last chance for the club to make good cash by selling the player because he will be free by the end of the season.

And with the looming elections at Barcelona, the Premier League club Manchester City have put to a halt their bid to sign the player until after the elections.

The embattled Messi almost left the Catalan club last season after he submitted his transfer request but was made to reverse his decision after the club cited a clause in his contract.

The 33-year-old is said to be unhappy at the Spanish club and another controversy recently erupted after Antoine Griezmann’s former agent and uncle accused him of being the root cause of the Frenchman's failure at the club.

Amid speculations that Messi will leave, journalists received an epic response from manager Ronald Koeman.

The manager who appeared frustrated when asked about the future of the Argentine legend angrily shuts down the reporters.

When asked whether Messi will leave in January or when his contract expires, Koeman yelled that he won’t say anything about it:
