Icon of democracy, PDP salutes Jonathan at 63

- The immediate past president of Nigeria, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has been showered with encomiums as he turns 63 years old

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has lavished praises on Nigeria's former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, as he celebrates his 63rd birthday on Friday, November 20.

According to the opposition, Jonathan is an undiminished icon of democracy and a global figure, who has amply demonstrated that the essence of leadership, at all levels.

Legit.ng gathered that the PDP in a series of tweets on its official Twitter page, went on to note that Nigerians will remain eternally grateful to Jonathan for his personal sacrifices towards the unity and stability of Nigeria.

The PDP wished the ex-president many more years to deliver greater services and prayed for God to bless him.

The party wrote:

"The OfficialPDPNig salutes former President GEJonathan as he marks his 63th birthday, describing him as an exceptional democrat, whose commitment to the unity stability and development of our nation remains unparalleled.
"The OfficialPDPNig describes former Jonathan as a detribalized Nigerian, an undiminished icon of democracy and global figure, who has amply demonstrated that the essence of leadership, at all levels, is in the humility of applying its values and opportunities for the collective good rather than the self."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that President Muhammadu Buhari felicitated with his predecessor, Jonathan, on the occasion of his 63rd birthday.

The president's message was contained in a statement released by his special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina, on Thursday, November 19.

President Buhari congratulated Jonathan for "a life of service that has brought honour and goodwill to the country."
