He said Governor Umahi, instead of defecting from the PDP, should be grateful to the party because it was the party that gave him all the opportunities he is enjoying in Nigeria's political landscape today.
Meanwhile, Nigerians have reacted to the latest development.
Isa Mariri in his reaction wrote"
"Well, I agree with Mr. Sam Egwu that it is wrong to give ultimatum and conditionality to the party on the presidential zoning formulae. As a stalwart of the party, Governor Umahi could have pushed for the agenda and made a wider consultation withing the party members before taking this decision."
Akanji Rasheed added:
"Everyone registered and joined PDP personally and not as a slave, so it is not a big deal those people remain in PDP while the Governor left for APC. It is an unbiased individual decision which they are entitled to."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng reported that despite the insinuations that he defected to APC to become Nigeria's president in 2023, Umahi has put the record straight.
The governor faulted the claims that he left PDP to achieve his ambition of becoming the president in 2023.
Legit.ng gathered that he told the press on Tuesday, November 17, in Abakaliki, the state capital that the insinuation that he joined the APC with such an intention was nothing but false.
