EndSARS: Court grants bail to Eromosele Adene after 10 days in detention

- A Yaba magistrate court has turned down the request of the police to keep Eromosele Adene in custody

- The police accused Adene of breaching public peace by his support for the EndSARS campaign

Eromosele Adene, one of the advocates of the EndSARS campaign has been granted bail by a magistrate court in Lagos

The Yaba magistrates court on Tuesday, November 17, set the bail at N1 million, Premium Times reported.

Adene was arrested by the police at home in Lagos on November 7 for playing an active role in the peaceful EndSARS protests.

He was accused criminal incitement, cyberstalking, provoking a breach of the public peace, and conduct likely to cause the breach of public peace.

Though he has not been formally charged with any offence, he was brought to court to determine if he could be kept in custody while being investigated.

The Nation newspaper which also carried the report stated that the court ruled against an application filed by the police seeking to remand Adene for an extra 30 days.

Adene’s lawyer, Tunde Jinadu, said his client was granted bail on medical grounds.

Meanwhile, the federal government has been urged to listen to the yearnings of Nigerian youths as a matter of urgency.

In a report by The Guardian, Rev. Dr Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) made the call.

Ayokunle, at a consecration ceremony in Akure, advised the Nigerian government to adequately cater for the youths who are formidable.

In another report, an Abuja magistrate court has ordered the police command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to investigate cases that allegedly involved Sam Adeyemi, Aisha Yesufu, and other persons involved in the EndSARS protests.

The order was given to the police commissioner in the FCT, Bala Ciroma, on Saturday, November 14, The Cable reported.
