The Super Eagles of Nigeria will file-out against host nation Sierra Leone at the Siaka Stevens Stadium on Tuesday afternoon, November 17, in the return leg fixture of their AFCON qualifiers.

Nigeria will be without striker Victor Osimhen who has returned to his base in Italy after he suffered an injury during the first leg with the Leone Stars at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium.

The Napoli of Italy Striker groaned in pains having suffered what seemed like a terrible injury in the first leg just about 15 minutes from time and was consequently substituted.

Osimhen who scored Nigeria’s second goal in the game which ended 4-4 had to be replaced by Paul Onuachu in the 78th minute.

And as Nigeria landed in Freetown ahead of the reverse fixture, Eagles handler Rohr has admitted that the 21-year-old will be missed.

He said, as cited in Complete Sports:

“We will miss Osimhen perhaps another change in the team but the players that will get the chance tomorrow will fight until the end of the match.
“No injury except the one by Osimhen we will miss him but other players are here to come in.”

However with hours before kick-off of the second leg, defender Troost-Ekong said Nigeria will return home with all three points if they replicate their first-half performance during the first leg which saw them ahead 4-0.

Heartbreak for Nigeria as important Super Eagles star ruled out of return leg against Sierra Leone

“We prepare like any other game with this team (Sierra Leone) we don’t under-estimate anyone and if we can just bring what we did in the first half of the last game and make sure we keep concentrated and see out the game, I think we have a good chance to do what we need to do."

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that nothing is free in Freetown but Sierra Leone FA president Isha Johansen has joked about letting Nigeria score just once when both teams face in the return leg of their AFCON 2022 qualifiers.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, Johansen is confident that Sierra Leone will beat Nigeria, even as she believes her team will score goals just like they did in Benin.

She, however, noted that Sierra Leone will not let Super Eagles score more than once this time around.
