- TSM has alleged that some desperate politicians are planning to tarnish Tinubu's image before 2023
- The group made the allegation in Abuja on Monday, November 16
- Sani Adamu, the national coordinator of the group, said that some politicians are afraid of Tinubu's political credentials
As the politicking on who becomes the successor of President Muhammadu Buhari gathers momentum, a pressure group, Tinubu Support Group (TSM), said it has uncovered plans by some politicians to smear the name of the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.
The Nation reports that the national coordinator of the group, Sani Adamu, who made this known in Abuja on Monday, November 16, said that the public space has been bombarded with coordinated attacks by some undisclosed persons to smear Tinubu's credentials and personality.
Legit.ng gathered the group said that the sponsored politically orchestrated campaign of calumny by enemies of united Nigeria targeted at Tinubu would fail.
The group said:
“With recent events in the public space, we are dismayed at the coordinated deliberate attacks, assaults and attempt to smear the unassailable credentials and personality of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed.
“It is with utmost disbelief that we see sponsored politically orchestrated campaign of calumny by enemies of united Nigeria and our striving democracy targeted at Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in their devilish attempt to instigate chaos and breakdown of law and order for their selfish goals.
“We are not unmindful of fabrication of fake news and falsehood to rubbish and smear the name of Senator Ahmed Tinubu before President Buhari and the good people of Nigeria. Patriotic Nigerians will not be deceived by enemies of the state and political marauders who are frightened and intimidated by the political credentials of our role model."
The group, however, admitted that the choice of who becomes the president is solely the right of the Nigerian electorate, adding maintained that the will of the Nigerian people would prevail when the time comes as regards the 2023 presidential contest.
“It is also important to warn enemies of democracy and political marauders who feel threatened by the potential of Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu to desist from harassing and tarnishing the image of Asiwaju built over the years. We will resist and frustrate by any legitimate means further campaign of calumny and propaganda to smear our leader and role model."
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that the president of Nigeria Presidential Project (NNP), Walter Oji, disclosed that about 46 professors across ethnic groups in Nigeria are working towards the actualisation of Igbo presidency in 2023.
It was reported that Oji made this disclosure during the inauguration of NPP in Akwa, the Anambra State capital on Monday, November 9.
