Police arrest 720 suspects from black spots in Lagos, recover weapons, charms

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) Lagos state command on Sunday, November 15, announced that it had arrested 720 suspects.

Olumuyiwa Adejobi, the command spokesman, disclosed that the suspects were nabbed during raids carried out simultaneously across the 14 area commands in the state.

According to the spokesman, the suspects were located at areas reasonably believed to be harbouring criminals and hoodlums at about 7 am on Sunday, The Nations reports.

The spokesman in a statement said items recovered during the raid include substances, locally-made guns with live cartridges, charms, and products likely to have been looted during the #EndSARS protests.

He went on to note that the arrests and recoveries are coming after the re-launch of the Lagos police command’s anti-crime strategies.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng previously reported that in Kwara state, the police command on Monday, October 26, paraded no fewer than 144 persons in connection with the violent attack and looting which took place in Ilorin.

The state commissioner of police, Kayode Egbetokun, said the arrest of the suspects was as a result of combined efforts of security agencies operating in the state.

Egbetokun, who confirmed that two government warehouses and lots of privately owned properties were attacked by the hoodlums, said the violence was well coordinated and led by hardened criminals.

In a related development, CP Hakeem Odumosu gave a serious warning to officers as ember months get to the festivity peak.

Specifically, he warned them against negligence, indolence, and complacency during this period.

He gave the warning in a statement signed by the command’s spokesman in Lagos.
