Super Eagles of Nigeria were on Monday morning, November 16, spotted at the Benin airport flying to Sierra Leone for the return leg of their AFCON 2022 clash against Sierra Leone.

The three-time African champions got a disappointing result against Sierra Leone in the first leg as Super Eagle allowed the Stars to come back from 4-1 down to draw the match.

But despite the result, Gernot Rohr and his wards are still topping their group with seven points and a win in Freetown will give them the ticket to the 2022 African Cup of Nations.

At the airport in Benin, some fans were spotted waiting for the Super Eagles to arrive before shouting the name of Ahmed Musa and Shehu Abdullahi.

Shehu Abdullahi then called one of the fans while walking and gave him some cash.

Napoli striker Victor Osimhen did not travel with the Super Eagles of Nigeria for their trip to Freetown because of the injury he sustained in the first tie in Benin, Edo state.

The last time Sierra Leone hosted the Super Eagles in a competitive match was in June 2008, and they suffered a 1-0 defeat in front of their fans.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Gernot Rohr who is the handler of the Super Eagles of Nigeria is reportedly ready to drop goalkeeper Maduka Okoye and Kevin Akpoguma for the return leg against Sierra Leone.

This is because of their unimpressive performance for the Super Eagles in their 2022 African Cup of Nations first leg qualifier against Sierra Leone in Benin, Edo state.

Super Eagles took a 4-1 lead to the dressing room in the half time, and the expectations from fans was that they would score more goals in the second half, but the visitors stunned them to score three goals.

Also, Legit.ng reported how Sierra Leone FA president Isha Johansen joked about letting Nigeria score just once when both teams face in the return leg of their AFCON 2022 qualifiers.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Legit.ng, Johansen is confident that Sierra Leone will beat Nigeria, even as she believes her team will score goals just like they did in Benin.
