EndSARS: CAN president urges FG to listen to Nigerian youths

The federal government has been urged to listen to the yearnings of Nigerian youths as a matter of urgency.

In a report by The Guardian, Rev. Dr. Samson Olasupo Ayokunle, the president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) made the call.

Ayokunle, at a consecration ceremony in Akure at the weekend, charged the Nigerian government to adequately cater for the youths who are formidable.

According to him, the youths have woken up to the fact that they are not a liability to society.

The CAN president while admonishing the youths, urged them not to despair given the many challenges the country is facing. He also appealed to young people to give the federal government more time to plan.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that President Muhammadu Buhari advised young Nigerians to be peaceful in making their demands from the government.

Buhari made the comment when he received his former minister of environment, Amina Mohammed, who is the current deputy secretary-general of the United Nations.

Mohammed is leading a delegation of senior UN officials to Nigeria, Niger, Sierra Leone, and Ghana.

She called on the Nigerian government to ensure that they engage the young people in order to foil another protest in the country.

In a related development, the Stakeholders of Nigerian Youths (SONY) has asked leaders of the #EndSARS protests to dialogue with the federal government.
