- The decision of the president may have come as a surprise to many Nigerians because Tambuwal is one of his political rivals
- The president advised the couple to remain together throughout their marriage
President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday, November 14, honoured the invitation to attend the wedding ceremony of the son of Governor Aminu Tambuwal, Najib Aminu.
The wedding ceremony which took place at Argungu in Kebbi, was between Najib and Amina Umar Tafida, the daughter of Senator Umar Tafida.
According to a presidential media aide, Garba Shehu, President Buhari was represented by the ministers of police affairs, Alhaji Maigari Dingyadi; Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) Abubakar Malami and the minister of justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN.
In his message to the new couple, the Nigerian leader urged them never to give up on each other throughout the union. Buhari also advised them to commit their relationship to God.
Meanwhile, the age-long enmity between the families of Atiku Abubakar and Nuhu Ribadu had finally come to an end as both of them would become in-laws very soon.
One of the sons of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)'s candidate in the last presidential election, Aliyu, and the daughter of the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Fatima, will be tieing the knot on Saturday, October 3.
According to Ribadu, the wedding ceremony, in line with the COVID-19 protocols, would be on low-key in Abuja.
Although both prominent Nigerians hail from Adamawa, the trouble started when the EFCC under Ribadu investigated Atiku's relationship with Congressman Thomas Jefferson who was later sentenced for corruption.
Atiku, who was at the time the vice president in the Olusegun Obasanjo-led government, lamented that he was being witch-hunted by the EFCC chairman.
