The Gunners came into the match on the backdrop of their 1-0 encouraging win over Man United at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

However, they failed to build on the win against a resurgent Villa side who completely outplayed them.

The hosts were initially lucky not to go behind just a minute into kickoff as John McGinn had his goal chalked off by VAR.

And Arteta had no excuses to make in his post-match press, admitting his side failed to play as a team.

"I take full responsibility. We did not start the game well enough. We got away with the situation with VAR because of the offside situation but straight after that we lost all the races," Metro UK quoted Arteta saying.

The north London club are now scheduled to take on Leeds United in their next league match.

Fortunately for them, they will have a two-week international break to prepare for the tie.

The side currently occupy 11th place with 12 points from eight rounds of matches.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Premier League match week eight saw Liverpool miss out on a chance to regain their top spot following their cagey 1-1 draw against Man City on Sunday, November 8, at Etihad Stadium.

Mohamed Salah scored the opener for the Reds before Gabriel Jesus equalised for the Citizens.

Kevin de Bruyne went on to falter from the spot minutes to deny City what could have been potentially the winner.

The result left the reigning champions sitting third with 17 points on level with Tottenham Hotspur who sit second following their win over West Bromwich.
