The governor of Kaduna state, Nasir El-Rufai, on Wednesday, November 4, visited his Lagos counterpart, to commiserate with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu following the spate of tragedies in the state.
El-Rufai during his visit to the Lagos House, Marina, said he was moved to tears over the destruction of public properties after the #EndSARS protest against police brutality was hijacked by hoodlums.
According to The Cable, the Kaduna governor who described the destruction as “pure evil” went on to note that Sanwo-Olu did his best to prevent the protests from degenerating into chaos.
In a statement by the chief press secretary to the Lagos state governor, Gboyega Akosile, El-Rufai said the youth involved would suffer the repercussion of their actions.
“I have spent time to see some of the pictures of the destruction done on public properties in Lagos and I nearly shed tears. Anyone who cares about development and progress will cry after seeing what has been done to public facilities and people’s investment that provided jobs to youths.
“As a colleague, I can confirm that governor of Lagos did all that could be done to ensure that this destruction does not take place.”
While condoling with the police and those who lost loved ones, El-Rufai assured that Kaduna will support Lagos in getting back on track.
