Barcelona overcame hard-fighting Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday night, November 4, following a 2-1 win over the Ukrainian club in the Champions League.

The visitors had barely started to settle into the fixture before Lionel Messi was hacked inside the box, and referee Michael Oliver had no hesitation in pointing to the spot.

The Barcelona captain stepped-up and whipped the ball into the far corner leaving Ruslan Neshcheret hapless in goal; 1-0 Barcelona.

In the 17th minute, Barcelona came close yet again but they were denied by goalkeeper Nescheret after Ansu Fati slipped a cute little ball into Messi's scuttling run into the box, and the Argentine pinged an angled shot towards the far corner which was parried by the goalie.

Dynamo Kyiv looked promising in the 34th minute forcing a fine save from Ter Stegen.

The visitors were starting to push for an equaliser, and when Buyalskiy connected with a cross from the right, the Barça goalkeeper had to show fine reflexes to divert the effort over the bar.

In the 43rd minute, Messi moved between a pair of white shirts before slipping it to De Jong whose fizzed ball into the box found Pedri, but the teenager failed to beat Neschere. Both teams went into the break with the hosts leading 1-0.

And it was 2-0 in the 65th minute courtesy a Gerrard Pique striker having connected with an inswinging ball from Ansu Fati to get his goal.

Ten minutes later, the visitors pulled one back courtesy a well deserved goal through Viktor Tsigankov to put the scoreline at 2-1 and set-up a nerve cracking final quarter of an hour.

However, there were no further goals as the Catalans held on to the slim lead as it ended Barcelona 2-1 Dynamo Kyiv.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng earlier reported that Istanbul Basaksehir vs Manchester United ended in a surprise 2-1 win for the Turkish champions at the Basaksehir Fatih Terim Stadyumu.

Former Liverpool striker Demba Ba and Edin Visca's goal were enough to seal the win while United's only goal came through Anthony Martial.
