US election: Diplomats reportedly express concern over possibility of chaos

A report by Time claims some diplomats and international observers in the United States have said the outcome of the presidential election in the country may be chaotic.

The report stated that the anxiety among the diplomats is based on the alleged refusal by President Donald Trump to agree to a peaceful handover of power if he loses.

The Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) in a pre-election preview report said some election experts have expressed grave concerns over Trump’s repeated allegations of a fraudulent election process.

Many foreign diplomats based in Washington are reportedly expressing fears that Trump’s words could cause an unseen crisis in America.

A senior western official who spoke anonymously reportedly said:

“I’m shocked that Trump rejected a peaceful handover of power."

The fear in the diplomatic circle is that Trump might reject a result that goes against him.

Another unnamed diplomat said she is expecting chaos from the fallout of the US presidential election.

Many of the embassies in Washington neighbourhoods are reportedly making crisis preparations in case the outcome of the US election leads to crisis.

Meanwhile, President Trump has showered a flurry of encomium on his teeming legion of supporters as they continue to demonstrate their democratic right in the ongoing presidential election.

Speaking via a tweet on his personal and verified Twitter account, the president expressed gratitude to his followers and promised to never let them down.
