Michael O’Neil Hails John Obi Mikel for his Performances for Stoke

Michael O’Neil who is the manager of Championship club Stoke City has hailed the performances of former Super Eagles captain John Obi Mikel since he joined the club.

Mikel Obi joined Stoke City in the summer on a free transfer and the Nigerian footballer has played in every minutes for the side ever since then.

The 33-year-old was in brilliant for Stoke City on Saturday, October 31, as the side defeated Rotherham United in their Championship League game.

O'Neil however explained that he is happy with Mikel Obi's games since he joined the side and hopes the Nigerian will continue with his fine form this season in the Championship.

”I think John Obi has done very well as well, particularly we’ve seen his quality in recent games.
“We believe we will continue to get stronger as a team.”

Meanwhile, Stoke City will be facing Watford away from home in their next Championship game in which Mikel Obi is expected to play again.

The Potters are currently occupying eight position on the Championship table with 15 points after nine games played so far.

Mikel played for Chelsea before in the Premier League where he won the League title and also the Champions League.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Nigerian midfielder John Obi Mikel spent quality time with his family after playing a part in Stoke City's 2-0 win away at Luton City.

The former Super Eagles star was on the pitch all through the meeting at the Kenilworth Road Stadium.

After the match, the Chelsea legend and one of his daughters hugged each other tight in what the 33-year-old described as the best hug ever.

Priot to his move to Michael O'Neill's side, the player was clubless after parting ways with former club Trabzonspor on a mutual consent.
