The Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa'ad Abubakar, has described the recent looting and destructions of government and private assets by hoodlums as wickedness.

Daily Trust reported that the Sultan who spoke at the 50th anniversary of Arewa House in Kaduna commended northern youths for exercising restrain.

The monarch said poverty should not be used as an excuse to plunder the nation’s assets.

His words:

“We know there is poverty but poverty should not be used for wickedness.
“Because what happened in the last couple of days is wickedness by some disgruntled hoodlums and I think it is important to condemn it loud and clear.”

The Sultan challenged northern leaders to work hard in creating a region that will project the vision of the late premier, Sir Ahmadu Bello.

Legit.ng notes that hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protest across the nation looted public and private properties.

Many states, Lagos especially, have been counting their losses after the mindless lootings and destructions.

For instance, with Lagos set to restore normalcy and bring peace back following wanton destructions, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu said his government would need N1 trillion to rebuild the state.
