Hollywood legend Sean Connery dies aged 90

Scottish film legend, Sean Connery, has died - aged 90. The most iconic role he played was the dashing spy James Bond, 007.

Connery also stared in other blockbuster films such as The Hunt for Red October and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.

He won an oscar in 1988 and in 2000 he was knight by the Queen of England. Connery's death spread quickly, with many of his fans shocked by the sudden passing of the screen legend.

The BBC has reported on his passing and that he had not been in the best of health for some time.

The world has reacted to his death by flooding social media with tributes to the great actor.

He skyrocketed to fame for his role as the suave spy, 007 who had a license to kill and charmed the ladies. The character was based upon the novels written by Ian Flemming, himself an ex MI6 operative.

James Bond played a huge role in developing the spy genre, particularly during the cold war, with tensions between Russia and the USA at an all-time high.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that Thomas Jefferson Byrd, a stage and film actor who was widely recognised for his performances in films directed by Spike Lee, was found shot to death on an Atlanta street in the American state of Georgia.

The New York Times reported that police had responded to an emergency call in the early hours of Saturday morning about "an injured person". Authorities arrived and found Mr Byrd to be unresponsive with multiple gunshot wounds to his back. It was announced that leads for the suspect are being investigated and that Byrd died as a result of the gunshots.

In other news, The Marvel Universe's Black Widow has married Saturday Night Live's desk anchor. Scarlett Johansson got married to Colin Jost in an intimate ceremony after having been engaged for just over a year.

The star-couple had a COVID-compliant ceremony and kept it intimate with close friends and family in attendance. The pair have been engaged for a year but met more than a decade ago on sketch-comedy show Saturday Night Live when Johansson starred in a scene Jost had written.
