Nassiriya Movement, a group which claimed it has members in 21 states, has declared full supports for Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna state for the 2023 presidency.
Leader of the movement, Garkuwa Ibrahim Babuga, made this known while addressing journalists on Friday, October 30, amid heightened conversation over who succeeds the incumbent President Muhammadu Buari in 2023.
According to the Babuga, if El-Rufai decided not to grant the movement's pleas of contesting for the 2023 presidential seat, it would be compelled to drag the governor to the Supreme Court.
The group said it has met the parents of the governor but could not get a convincing answer, adding that it would do everything possible to force him into the presidential race.
Declaring that Nigeria is for El-Rufai come 2023, Nassiriya Movement stressed that the governor deserves to take over the mantle of leadership from the president, citing his "track records of achievements."
It noted that as minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), El-Rufai made some "developmental strides" which he is replicating as Kaduna governor.
"We are ready to go up to the Supreme Court. We also met his parents and relations but we’ve not gotten a successful answer. We have to go to court. Nigeria is for El-Rufa’i in 2023.
"El-Rufa’i is fit to be President based on his track records of achievements. You all have seen his developmental strides in the FCT and in Kaduna state. He is the best person for the villa in 2023.”
