In a bid to achieve their aims of producing President Muhammadu Buhari's successor in 2023, southeast governors, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other stakeholders from the zone have launched a new initiative.

The Nation reported that the Igbo stakeholders said they will take three important steps under the new initiative.

The first step is a solidarity march which is scheduled to take place on Sunday, December 27.

Legit.ng gathers that the march will take place simultaneously in the five south-east states of Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu and Imo.

The second step to be taken under the initiative is to write letters to President Buhari, and the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Anakwenze explained that the purpose of the letters is to seek the support of the president and the two major parties in the country.

The third step is forming alignments with other geopolitical zones in the country.

Anakwenze said the Igbo leaders believe in alignment as they are aware the zone cannot get the presidency by itself, even if all the Igbos vote.

The Igbo leader also revealed that those to be considered to join the presidential race include present and past governors and federal legislators from the southeast.
