Lekki shooting: Lagos judicial panel of inquiry visits military hospital, morgue

Ten days after protesters were shot at the Lekki toll gate, the Lagos state judicial panel of inquiry paid an unscheduled visit to the Military hospital in Falomo, Ikoyi area of Lagos state, Channels TV reports.

Members of the panel set up to investigate complaints of police brutality and human rights violations committed by operatives of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad also visited a morgue inside the hospital to determine if corpses of protesters killed were taken to the hospital.

Though they were at the hospital to make more findings over the shooting on Tuesday, October 20, the panel members were denied entry into the premises. However, after about 30 minutes they were allowed into the hospital.

The panel's visit to the hospital and morgue on Friday, October 30, is coming after the inspection of the Lekki toll gate where they recovered six bullet shells.

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the management of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) expressed readiness to show the footage of the shooting.

The head of the legal department of LCC, Gbolahan Agboluwaje, made this known when he appeared before the panel on Friday.

Agboluwaje noted that the footage of the shooting was available, adding that the LCC received a summon from the panel on Wednesday, October 28, to appear before it to present the footage and the investigation report.

Similarly, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos state has said that those behind the shootings of protesters at the Lekki toll gate would be brought to book.
