Highlife music legend Prince Morocco Maduka dies at 73

- Prince Morroco Maduka passed away on Thursday, October 29

- The highlife music legend who a while back celebrated 60 years on stage, died at the age of 73

- Maduka's death was announced by Anambra state chapter of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria via Facebook

It is a sad day for the entertainment industry and highlife music lovers as yet another legend, Prince Morroco Maduka, has passed on

Maduka died on Thursday, October 29, and the tragic news was announced by the Anambra state chapter of the Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria (PMAN) on their official Facebook page.

Part of the statement read:

"With heavy heart of sorrow...We the entire Anambra state PMAN announce the exit of a music Legend (Dr Prince Morroco Maduka.....Ozonweluibe).

According to the statement released, other arrangements as regards his burial will be communicated subsequently.

Prince Morocco who until his death was the oldest Igbo performing musician alive, recently celebrated 60 years on stage. He is famous for songs like Asiri 98, Ife Oma, Akalaka etc.

The Ukwulu, Anambra-born music maestro, started his music career at the age of 14.

He was famous with the Ekpili music genre, and has followers all over the world, including the United States of America, Europe, Asia.

Only some months ago, another music legend, Majekodunmi Fasheke, popularly known as Majek Fashek passed on. The news was shared by his management via his official Instagram page.

In the video, he called on Nigerians to celebrate rather than mourn the reggae icon dubbed The Rainmaker, as his contribution to the Nigerian music industry was great.

Recall in 2019, Legit.ng reported that the music veteran was ill and battling for his life at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in England.

His manager Omenka confirmed the state of his health via a video post shared on the official Instagram page of the singer.

Omenka also cried out that they are in serious need of financial assistance to help go through the challenges.
