Lionel Messi is officially the fourth-highest goalscorer in football's history after beating German legend Gerd Muller by one goal, Sport Bible.

Messi now has 721 goals following his penalty strike against Juventus in the Champions League which saw him move up one goal ahead of Muller.

The Barcelona captain scored his fourth spot-kick of the season in injury time after providing the assist for Ousmane Dembele's first goal.

According to journalist Tancredi Palermi, Messi is now the fourth all-time top goalscorer but he still 21 goals behind his fiercest rival Cristiano Ronaldo who has 742 goals.
