Marcus Rashford says Solskjaer asked him to up tempo before UCL hat-trick in win over Leipzig

- Marcus Rashford scored three goals within 18 minutes as a second half substitute to inspire Man United to a 5-0 win over RB Leipzig

- The hat-trick was Rashford's first in his professional football career, helping him to walk home with the match ball

- United's win inflicted Leipzig their first defeat in all competitions to top Group H with six points

Marcus Rashford came off the bench to inspire Man United to a huge Champions League win over RB Leipzig on Wednesday night, October 28, at Old Trafford.

United had taken an early lead in the first half of the match through Mason Greenwood and the hosts looked set for a slim win.

However, it was the introduction of Rashford in the second half that turned tables for Leipzig who showed clear intent of finding an equaliser.

The England international scored a stunning hat-trick with just 18 minutes of the fixture to down a spirited Leipzig side who were unbeaten prior to the tie.

Rashy doubled United's lead in the 74th minute, before he made it 3-0 just four minutes later.

The forward was well on course to scoring his third three minutes to time after the Red Devils won a penalty, but passed on the duties to Anthony Martial in a show of class.

He, however, went on to complete his hat-trick of the night at stoppage time - his first in professional football.

Speaking after his heroic performance, Rashford revealed the manager asked him and Bruno Fernandes to try and bring the tempo upfront.

"The manager told us when we came on to try and up the tempo," Rashford told BT Sport shortly after the final whistle as cited by Metro UK.
"It was a real team performance. The ones who started did well and the substitutes did well too," he added.

United have now picked six points from two of their opening group matches, beating last season's semi-finalists in the European competition.

Earlier, Legit.ng had reported how Manchester United legend Roy Keane blasted France international Paul Pogba claiming that his performances for the Premier League giants have not been good in recent months.

Despite winning the World Cup with France two years ago in Russia, Paul Pogba has not been impressive for Manchester United in the Premier League and other competitions.

The former Juventus star has constantly been linked with a move to Spanish champions Real Madrid for the past two seasons, but the move has not materialized.

So far this term at Old Trafford, Paul Pogba is no longer the star midfielder for Manchester United as Bruno Fernandes is now the loved one by the fans.
