As Nigeria marks Eid-el-Maulud (Prophet Muhammad's birthday) on Thursday, October 29, President Muhammadu Buhari addressed Nigerians on some key issues in his message commemorating the occasion.
The president's message was contained in a statement by Garba Shehu who is his senior special assistant on media and publicity.

1. Show love and understanding to fellow citizens
The president urged Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the virtues of the Holy Prophet by showing love and understanding for fellow citizens while exhibiting patience, honesty, sincerity, kindness and generosity in all their undertakings.
2. Message to Nigerian youths
Making reference to the massive violence and mindless looting experienced across the country after some hoodlums hijacked the #EndSARS protest, President Buhari urged the Nigerian youths to "shun all negative tendencies".
3. Looters will face justice
President Buhari vowed to ensure that all those who were involved in the mindless looting of public and private properties across the country are brought to justice.
4. Punishment for errant police officers
Also, the president addressed one of the demands of the #EndSARS protesters in the message.
Just as he had stated earlier, President Buhari promised to bring police officers responsible for misconduct to justice.
5. Caution on coronavirus pandemic
On coronavirus, President Buhari noted that Nigeria has so far managed the problem successfully by keeping the numbers as low as possible.
He also advised all citizens to continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols of social distancing, wearing of face masks and washing of hands.
In another report, President Buhari on Wednesday, October 28, launched the 2021 Armed Forces Remembrance Day (AFRD) emblem and appeal fund with N10 million.
The president said the current happenings in the country remind Nigerians of the need to guard jealously the unity of the nation which was won at great cost.
