Looters invade COVID-19 isolation centre in Taraba, cart away beds

- A COVID-19 isolation centre in Jalingo, Taraba state capital has been invaded by hoodlums

- Some items including mattresses were reportedly looted by the invaders

- Security operatives who were deployed to the facility were unable to stop the looting

The ongoing looting recorded in parts of the country assumed a desperate dimension when looters invaded COVID-19 isolation centre in Jalingo, Taraba state capital.

According to Daily Trust, thousands of youths broke into the centre located along Wukari Jalingo road and went away with mattresses and other items.

Some soldiers and police officers deployed to the centre were unable to stop the youths from carting away items at the facility.

Reports emerged that the hoodlums looted all the mattresses numbering 200 and other supplies in the facility.

An eye witness told Daily Trust that the while some people carried the looted items on their heads others used motorcycles and tricycles to convey their loot.

The invaders were said to have stripped the facility of valuables.

Meanwhile, for miscreants in Abuja, the warning of President Muhammadu Buhari against looting public and private properties meant nothing.

This is as many hoodlums on Monday, October 26, invaded a warehouse in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) where COVID-19 palliatives were stored.

The storehouse located in the Gwagwalada area council is known to be owned by the agricultural and rural development secretariat of the FCT's administration.

In another report, some suspected hoodlums attacked and looted the warehouses belonging to the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Jabi Daki Biu, Abuja.

According to This Day, the hoodlums also looted private warehouses in the Idu Industrial Layout, Abuja

The warehouses were reportedly stocked with food items.

Meanwhile, security agents on Sunday, October 25, arrested many suspected looters during raids on homes in Osogbo, the Osun state capital.

Yemisi Opalola, the Osun state police command public relations officer made the disclosure.

The police spokesperson said the looters would be arrested and charged to court at the appropriate time.
