Boko Haram: One policeman, 6 terrorists killed in attack on Yobe community

- Police operatives have killed six suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Yobe state

The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) scored a number of victories in the fight against the Boko Haram insurgency in the north-east region.

About six suspected Boko Haram terrorists were neutralized by security personnel on Sunday, October 25, the Yobe state police command has said.

It was gathered that the suspected Boko Haram terrorists had attacked Babbangida town in Tarmuwa local government area of the state on Saturday evening, October 24.

The attack on Babbangida town led to the destruction of some government assets, causing panic among the residents.

Dungus Abdulkarim, the spokesman of the command, disclosed this in Damaturu during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

According to Abdulkarim, the six suspected terrorists were shot dead by mobile police personnel protecting the division.

He went on to note that one policeman was killed while another injured during the gun battle.

He said:

“Our mobile police personnel held their ground and exchanged gunfire with the terrorists, killing six of them while many others fled with gunshot wounds.
“The terrorists torched a vigilance group vehicle, they also destroyed part of the council secretariat, divisional police station and a military base before they were repelled.”

Earlier, Legit.ng reported that the fight against the menace of banditry and other criminal activities in the north recorded a massive victory as the Nigerian troop neutralised an armed bandit in Plateau state.

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) made this known on Saturday, October 17, in a statement issued by its coordinator of defence media operations, Major General John Enenche.
