The All Progressives Congress (APC) has asked the youths to call off their demonstrations following the EndSARS protests rocking almost all the states in the country.
Daily Trust reports that the party said it would support President Muhammadu Buhari in implementing the protesters' demands in the interest of peace and unity to return in the country.
Legit.ng gathered that in a statement on Saturday, October 24, the Yobe state governor and chairman of the APC national caretaker committee, Mai Mala Buni, said the party welcomed the decision for comprehensive reforms, including the review of salaries of the police as announced by President Buhari.
He called on Nigerians not to play politics with the #EndSARS protests to achieve a cheap political point, adding that the crisis required an amicable resolution in the interest of the nation.
Governor Buni said:
“To our youth, your message has been heard loud, clear, and well understood. The next stage that must follow is the needed engagement with all the structures of government to address all the concerns around the protest and effectiveness of government in general.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had previously reported that Governor Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom addressed citizens of the state following widespread violence, looting and arson that were perpetuated in Uyo, the state capital recently.
It was reported that the incident occurred after a peaceful #EndSARS protest was hijacked by criminals and hoodlums.
In a statewide broadcast, Governor Emmanuel expressed sympathy with the victims of the carnage that was meted on them by rogue elements who infiltrated the rank of protesters to cause mayhem.
