EndSARS: Lagos pledges support to owners of vandalised, looted stores

- Lagos state has pledged to help business owners who have been affected activities of hoodlums

- Recall that many businesses were destroyed and looted by hoodlums who hijacked the EndSARS protest

In efforts to help those who have been directly affected by the looting that occurred across Lagos in the last few days, the Lagos state government has announced that it plans to support business owners who had their businesses vandalised or looted by hoodlums.

This was disclosed in a tweet, Obafemi Hamzat, the deputy governor of the state.

He wrote:

“If you are a Lagos based business and your store got looted/vandalized this week, please fill this form by @LSETF http://bit.ly/LASGMSMERECOVERY. Let's do what we can to support you."

In a related development, residents of Lagos who have been abused by the defunct Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) can now write petition against the police unit.

Also, Lagosians can now claim compensation from the government if their complaints warrant it.

To achieve this, Lagos state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has set up Judicial Panel to investigate brutality and rights violations by the officers.

Also, Governor Sanwo-Olu announced the easing of the curfew imposed on Lagos state over repeated attacks on facilities by suspected thugs wreaking havoc under the guise of EndSARS protest.

The governor made the announcement on Friday evening, October 23, during a press conference in the state.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had reported that Shehu Sani, a former senator who represented Kaduna Central, has urged those who stole the office staff of Lagos state monarch, Oba Riliwan Akiolu to return it.
