Celebrity stylist and owner of Tiannah’s place, Toyin Lawani, decided to teach her son a vital life lesson when he clocked six.
In the post which she shared on Instagram, she took him to the road to see what child hawkers go through before doing a street hawking-themed photoshoot.
The star also said that the scene was a norm for every street child in Nigeria and it was not a big deal. She further stated that the kids who should be in school hawk to feed their parents and most people buy from them without worrying.
Excerpts from her post read:
"When I made @thereallordmaine experience this for his birthday, I knew what I was doing. I wanted him to experience what those kids in traffic experience, it started out as fun, but at the end, he said please can we go home now, I will listen to you every time,I won’t waste my food again, he made me all the promises in this world cause I told him I would leave him there. This is the norm for every street child in Nigeria and guess what? It’s not a big deal, they are meant to be in school but they hawk to feed their parents, most of us even buy from them not worrying, but abroad you will be jailed if you make your kid do this, you won’t even need to do this abroad cause each child you give birth to have benefits they get from the government, food, money etc. This movement started with #Endsars, but today I want us to open our eyes and look around us, let’s start using our voices to correct these wrongs."
