Iseyin local government area of Oyo state has been plunged into chaos as suspected self-sponsored hoodlums operating under the guise of EndSARS protest invaded a police station and brought the building down to ruins.
Legit.ng gathered that the hoodlums, bearing different arms and weapons, began the attack at exactly 9am on Thursday morning, October 22.
Defying the earlier directives of the community's traditional council prohibiting the protest, the weapon-wading and weed-smoking thugs invaded the police station and destroyed the building before setting it ablaze.
Motorcycles, Keke Napep and other items including guns were carted away as security operatives fled the station amid mounting tension.
This publication also gathered that shops, stores and other properties belonging to the government were looted and destroyed, leaving residents in panic as they scampered for safety in the community relatively known for peace.
It would be recalled that the EndSARS protests have been going on nationwide against the age-long brutality of the operatives of the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).
The protests, which are gaining momentum and global recognition, peaked in some states especially in Ibadan, Lagos, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) as youths continued to express their anger.
Schools Closed in Oyo state
Meanwhile, Governor Seyi Makinde-led government in Oyo state on Tuesday, October 20, announced the temporary suspension of academic activities across private and public schools.
The decision was necessitated by hardship students and pupils witnessed on account of the #EndSARS protest in major parts of the state which intensified on Monday, October 19.

Makinde Deployed Operation Burst as Protest Hijacked by Thugs
Following increased violence by thugs who have taken over the EndSARS protest in Ibadan, Oyo state government also announced the deployment of a special security unit to contain the situation.
Governor Makinde announced that the state deployed officers of Operation Burst to various spots to ensure the security of the protesters and total compliance with laws and order.
According to the governor, while the team will continue to protect genuine protesters and their right to protest, the state cannot allow persons with ulterior motives to hijack the rallies.
