EndSARS: Imo youths defy Governor Uzodinma, burn police station, kill soldiers

- The divisional police station in Mbaitoli area of Imo was razed by a mob on Wednesday, October 21

- The hoodlums also killed two soldiers who were at a checkpoint in the area

- Added to this, the thugs released all the suspects in the police station

In complete defiance to the 24-hour curfew imposed by Governor Hope Uzodinma, Imo youths in Mbaitoli local government area have burnt down the divisional police station in Nwaoriubi.

The irate youths after attacking the station also killed not less than two soldiers who were at a checkpoint in the area.

This Day reports that the miscreant also freed all the suspects in the station and went ahead to invade the police barracks and officers' mess, having razed cars parked at the station.

The incident was confirmed by the police spokesman in the state, Orlando Ikeokwu, in his statement on Wednesday, October 21.

However, Ikeokwu stated that only one soldier was killed in the attack.

Meanwhile, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers state imposed a 24-hour curfew in some areas of the state.

This was contained in a statement signed and released by Governor Wike's media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, on Tuesday, October 21.

Governor Wike in a statewide broadcast also announced that the curfew will take place in the entire Oyigbo local government area of the state.

The governor explained that the curfew became necessary as suspected hoodlums have hijacked the #EndSARS protest. According to him, some hoodlums on Wednesday attacked and destroyed police stations and court buildings in Oyigbo LGA.
