Antoine Griezmann is unable to express because he is overshadowed by Lionel Messi at Barcelona, according to former Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, Goal.
The 29-year-old is in his second season with La Blaugrana and is still struggling to justify his £107million from Atletico Madrid.
The Frenchman has scored at least 20 goals in his six-year spell with Atletico before moving to Barca but has struggled to replicate his form at the Camp Nou.
Griezmann scored 15 goals in 48 matches last season and is yet to find the back of the net in the current campaign after four matches.
And Wenger believes Griezmann is played out of position because Messi but he is still a world class player.
Wenger told beIN Sports:
"Not playing at his position is complicated in the long term.
"At the start, the guy accepts it but, if he does not meet his needs in the long term and he feels that the position does not allow him to express his qualities, he will become discouraged.
"Today, he is a player who must play in the centre because he has a great work rate, a precision in his passes. He can be dangerous with the last pass and by scoring goals, but there is congestion because he is in the range of play of Messi."
Griezmann was left on the bench by Ronaldo Koeman during Barca's 5-1 win over Ferencvaros in the Champions League.

Barcelona's attack in the game had Messi, Ansu Fati, Philippe Coutinho and Francisco Trinca, despite using all of his five substitutes the Frenchman was snubbed.
It is unknown whether Griezmann would make Koeman's starting XI when they take on Real Madrid in the first El Clasico of the season.
Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Lionel Messi has impressed his boss Ronald Koeman after his impressive display in Barcelona's 5-1 win over Ferencvaros in the Champions League, Goal.
La Blaugrana suffered their first La Liga defeat of the season away at Getafe but Barca returned to winning ways against the Hungarian counterpart.
And Koeman has heaped praises on Messi's five-star performance as the Dutchman told reporters after the final whistle.
