A Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) command in Ogun was on Tuesday, October 21, attacked by some thugs, leaving one officer, Solomon Alagye, dead and many others injured.
The attack by the miscreants was confirmed by Hamned Oloyede, the Command’s spokesman, who disclosed that the hoodlums invaded the base at Oke Ore in Yewa local government area of the state with guns, machetes, axes, and even harms, Daily Trust reports.
Oloyede in a statement revealed that other injured officers have been taken to the 192 Brigade Military Hospital in Owode.
He added that a call by the area Controller, Comptroller Michael Agbara, for reinforcement has been made to Customs patrol teams, the police and the Nigerian Army (NA).
Oloyede's statement partly read:
“Unfortunately, the intervention teams could not reach the scene on time due to the road blocks mounted by the EndSARs protesters.
“In addition to the fatal shooting of our officers, the hoodlums also damaged two Customs patrol vehicles and set another one ablaze.
“The hoodlums further escalates their mayhem and eventually looted all valuables items including Customs uniform in the said patrol base.”
Meanwhile, thugs in Abuja who were perpetrating violence in the guise of EndSARS protest on Tuesday, October 20, burnt down the Dutse Makaranta police station in the Kubwa area of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This act of violence on the part of the hoodlums is an off-shoot of the clash that ensued between them and some policemen earlier on Saturday, October 17, which reportedly resulted in the death of one of the protesters, Anthony Onome.
