EndSARS: Hoodlums attack RRS operatives in Lagos

- Some Rapid Response Squad (RRS) officers were attacked in Lagos on Monday, October 19

- The attackers carried out the evil act assuming the officers were sent by the leadership of the police command in the state to stop the EndSARS protest

- Not less than 14 operatives of the units were injured in the attack

It seems that the nationwide EndSARS protest is beginning to get uglier as miscreants are now taking undue advantage of the march to strike havoc on innocent security personnel in the country.

There are emerging reports that some hoodlums in Lagos on Monday, October 19, attacked operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) unit of the police command, The Cable reports.

Eyewitnesses told journalists that the mayhem took place along the Herbert Macaulay Way in the Yaba area of the state.

It was gathered that the thugs attacked the security agents believing that they were deployed by the police force to disperse them and thus, forcefully end the protest.

The Nation reports that the officers who were on their way in a truck to relieve their colleagues who have been on duty since Sunday, October 18, were overpowered by the thugs.

The criminals who used bottles and stones on the officers seriously injured not less than 14 of them in Ebute Meta.

The newspaper disclosed that the injured security agents have been taken to the Police Clinic Ikeja while others were rushed to the General Hospital.

Meanwhile, the minister of defence, Bashir Magashi, warned Nigerian youths not to breach the nation's security in the prolonged EndSARS protest despite making their agitations clearly known to the federal government.

Magashi made this call to the youths in a statement released by the ministry's spokesman, Mohammad Abdulkadri.

The minister gave this warning when the national coordinator of Buhari Campaign Organisation (BCO), Danladi Pasali, led a delegation to the ministry in Abuja recently.
