Gareth Bale did not accept a ten per cent pay cut like other Real Madrid players and staff during the lockdown, reports claim.

The entire first team of players accepted while the Welshman declined to accept the reduction of his £500,000-per-week wage, widespread reports

The 31-year-old opted to donate his wages to the Cardiff & Vale Health Charity rather than the club he won four Champions League titles with.

Madrid captain Sergio Ramos took it up himself to persuade players to accept the reduction in wages while Zinedine Zidane helped the team recognize the importance of helping out by taking a pay cut.

Reports claim Los Blancos were able to save £45million from the exercise but would have got £50,000 more in a week if Bale had agreed to take a pay cut.

The Welshman has had a successful spell at the Santiago Bernabeu despite falling out of favour with Zidane since the Frenchman took over as manager.

Bale rejoined Tottenham before deadline day and made his debut for Jose Mourinho's side in their disappointing 3-3 draw with West Ham.

The 31-year-old came in as a 72nd-minute substitute and made an instant impact where he hit the bar with an individual effort.

Meanwhile, Legit.ng had earlier reported that Gareth Bale has expressed his desire to leave Real Madrid this summer only if the Spanish club would permit him.

The Welshman was set to play in the Chinese Super League last season but the move was stopped at the eleventh hour by Los Blancos.

To add to his woes, Bale has been frozen out of Zinedine Zidane's first team after experiencing only 100 minutes of action after the three-month break.
